Amendments to hole 1

Safety problems relating to the first hole and the nearby A361 road meant a complete redesign of the first hole and a decision made as to whether or not to retain the hole as a par 5 or to shorten the hole and modify it as a long par 4.

After discussions with the club and an EGM it was decided to shorten the hole and create a par 4. There were many faults with the original alignment of the hole as a par 5 not the least of which was the overhanging branches of nearby poplar trees and the alignment of the tees toward the road. In all there were six factors which affected the safety of this hole. These were all corrected in the modifications and to date the changes have greatly eased the problem.
