The company was formed in 1991 by Simon Gidman and planner Nicholas Blakemore. Simon began his career in 1972 as a professional golfer and subsequently studied Landscape Architecture at Leeds Metropolitan University. In 1983 he joined Hawtree’s as an architectural assistant and during that time worked on many projects throughout the world.

Simon Gidman is a past president of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects as well as vice president of the former British Institute of Golf Course Architects. He has lectured to the British Greenkeepers Association and spoke regularly for the English Golf Union on their roadshows. He has presented papers to various institutions including the National Turfgrass Council and the Golf Secretary’s Association. He has also contributed to a number of books most recently to “Golf Architecture: A Worldwide Perspective” and “Favourite Holes by Design”, both by Paul Daley.

The company has a vast experience in the design and construction of new courses as well as the renovation and sometimes the complete remodelling of existing courses. The company are currently involved with a number of major projects in Dubai, Ajman and Nigeria as well as new projects in the United Kingdom and generally across Europe.
