Simon Gidman International Golf Course Architects
Simon Gidman's long experience with golf began in 1971 when he served as an assistant professional at Gerrards Cross GC, Sandy Lodge GC, Crowborough Beacon GC and Sonning GC. During his time as a professional golfer he developed an interest in golf course architecture and, keen to further his knowledge of design generally, studied Landscape Architecture at Leeds Metropolitan University, graduating in 1982.
In 1983 he joined Hawtree’s where he was involved in a number of golf course projects throughout the world.

Simon Gidman is a past vice president of the former British Institute of Golf Course Architects as well as past president of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects. He has lectured to the British Greenkeepers Association and speaks regularly on the English Golf Union annual roadshows. He has presented papers to various institutions including the National Turfgrass Council and the Secretary’s Association. He has contributed to a number of golfing books, most recently to 'Golf Architecture – A Worldwide Perspective' and 'Favourite Holes by Design' – both by Paul Daley.
